Dennis M. Seaman is the founder and managing partner of Seaman & Associates.  For the last 50 years, he has handled thousands upon thousands of cases involving motor vehicle accidents, construction site accidents, premises accidents, defective product claims, medical and professional malpractice claims, nursing home negligence claims, wrongful death claims, workers’ compensation claims, job site accident claims, and employee claims against employers for intentional acts.  Recently, in 2016 and again in 2017, Dennis received the Martindale-Hubbell® Distinguished Peer Review Rating for High Professional Achievement.

Dennis has dedicated his entire legal and personal life adjudicating and protecting the rights of injured workers and citizens. In addition to his professional career of protecting the rights of injured people, he has assisted the general community through his involvement in many civic organizations.

My Story

Coming from a solid, working-class family, Dennis has a real understanding of the lives of the hard-working people he represents.  He is at his best when he is working for those who need a strong voice to protect their best interests within the legal system.

It is this sense of responsibility for others that has been the hallmark of Dennis’s life. He has selflessly devoted himself to running neighborhood youth groups for the past 30 years. He has taken teens on educational trips overseas, and has personally funded scholarships for needy students.

“I strongly believe in volunteer work and giving back to the community,” says Dennis. “It’s not always about writing checks. It’s about rolling up your sleeves and pitching in. It’s a great feeling when you are doing something that you know will have a positive, long lasting impact.”

Dennis is also known to follow a different drummer. “I admire Winston Churchill because he was a statesman, not a politician and said things that he believed in, even though it was not politically expedient for him to do so,” Dennis explains. “I’ve lived my life based upon my own principles, regardless of what anyone thinks about me. I’ve always been in the minority and that doesn’t bother me, as long as I know I am doing the right thing and following my conscience.”

Although Dennis enjoys hiking, swimming and the great outdoors, nothing gives him greater pleasure than his nine grandchildren. “One of the most wonderful bonuses my wife and I got from our three children is our grandchildren,” he says. “I go to all their plays, baseball and basketball games, piano and dance recitals and soccer practices. As busy as I am, spending time with my grandchildren tops everything else. They make me feel forever young.”

• $420 million class action settlement in a case against the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation where the Bureau allegedly overcharged workers’ compensation premiums to employers during a seven-year period.
• Over $1 million recovery on an intentional tort/workers' compensation claim where the injured worker suffered an amputation of his hands resulting in a permanent total disability award based upon a loss of use of both hands.
• $1 million structured settlement in a wrongful death case involving a minor child.  This was the first structured settlement in Cleveland, Ohio.
